Hello everyone. I just picked up The Double Helix and sat down, read half a page, and put it down. I don't really think that I am much interested in Watson's story of researching DNA anymore. I'm really not getting into it as much as I'd hoped. I was looking for more books and found The Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess. I've heard of this book before, but I didn't know it was one of the top
100 best English-language novels of the 20th century. I have been told that this book is disturbing, and I've looked up some information on the book and found the term "Ultra-Violence", which just makes it more intriguing to me. I will definitely be checking it out here pretty soon. This book was also made into a movie.
interesting cover! Hope you like it better, can't wait to her what it's about.
ReplyDeleteHmm that sucks. I would think it would be pretty boring too. But that's just me! Hopefully this one isn't as dry to you. I think you might enjoy it better, but give it a chance this time!
ReplyDeleteThat is quite a strange cover. The movie was really good, but the book is usually better than the movie, so i cant wait to hear your thoughts on the book. Violence is present throughout most of the book, and I remember not being able to watch the movie when I was younger because my parents thought it was so bad.
ReplyDeleteThat book sounds pretty legit! I like your diffenert genres of books, they are awesome and its pretty cool that you might watch A Clockwork Orange.
ReplyDelete(shivers) I can't tell what's scarier, the actors infamous stare in the movie, or the psychedelic cover of the book. Either way, I found the movie to be a very satirical look at society, even though it's probably set in the future. Still, I will never look at milk the same way again. (See the movie and you'll see.)
ReplyDeleteI hope you "enjoy" this book. The violence is just too disturbing for me to tackle this read...I learn vicariously through you. I hope you are up to a violent, bleak read.
ReplyDeleteThe cover actually strikes odd and creepy to me lol. But as long as the book is interesting and you like it, thats what matters. Can't wait to hear more!
